About Matthew Shankula — Christian Poet & Visual Artist
I’m Matt Shankula — an artist, writer, and poet passionate about using creativity to inspire, encourage, and connect people. My journey as a creator has always been guided by faith, shaped by Scripture, and fueled by a desire to serve others through art and words.
From an early age, I found that painting, drawing, and writing poetry weren’t just hobbies—they were languages through which I could express both my own story and the deeper truths of God’s Word. Over time, these expressions became my way of weaving together beauty, hope, and faith in ways that resonate with people from all walks of life.
My Creative Mission
I believe that art can do more than decorate—it can speak, heal, and remind us of truths we sometimes forget. Whether I’m painting a canvas, sketching a figure, or writing a poem, my goal is the same: to create something that encourages reflection, sparks meaningful conversation, and draws people closer to God.
Romans 8:28 is a guiding verse for my work: “And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.” That promise grounds my art in faith and purpose.
What I Create
- Paintings & Drawings that explore both realism and abstraction, infused with biblical themes and personal reflection.
- Poetry & Writing that wrestle with beauty, struggle, and hope in everyday life.
- God-Inspired Projects, including my most recent endeavor: an illustrated Bible series, combining Scripture with original artwork, published one book at a time.
Beyond the Canvas
For me, art is inseparable from people. I love connecting with others—not just through my work, but through deep and meaningful conversations. My heart is to serve, to see others feel valued and loved, and to build relationships where creativity and faith meet.
Let’s Connect
I share my artwork, poetry, and reflections here on my site as well as across social platforms. Whether you come for inspiration, conversation, or curiosity, I hope you find something here that stirs your spirit and reminds you of truth, beauty, and hope.
