Have you ever stopped to wonder?
How is all this possible?
How can you not look at life and history and not realize how lucky we are
Questions unanswered
Something simple as a blade of grass
Yet so complex
From your body to a small cell
Curiosity overload
We think we know everything yet we know nothing
We focus on nonsense
Waste our time
Never question anything
We are living things
Not robots
Are we so scared of the truth
Of clarity
Of knowledge
I don’t know how you can live your life without being mind blown of how life happened in the first place
We feel the wind but can’t see it
We are made up of atoms
We created technologies and changed the world
Look at your smartphone
You have a mini computer that processes information less than a second through zeros and ones
You can take pictures instantly and send it to anyone around the world
We are the most informed generation ever
Yet misinformed
The greatest enemy to the government is individuals who are informed and use critical thinking who question every motive
Where did our imagination go
The more we have
The more we go blind
Open your eyes
To the wonders of this world
Death sounds depressing
Yet so fascinating
Life is full of the weird
Of the unknown
It is meant to explore
Question everything
Think for yourself
Broaden your views in life
Don’t take life for granted
Travel, experience, listen to others
Meet new people
So go outside and realize how crazy and amazing and beautiful our world is
Not to mention the stars and universe
I’m in awe
Of how this is possible
How did I ever get so lucky to be where I am today

Hope
Hope
That word may feel empty to some
How can there be any of it
With a world like this
What’s the point
We can’t escape from death
We can’t run away from failure
Why even try
Was my life meaningless?
Death can make us wary
It can make us mourn
It can lead us to destruction
But what’s the point of all our hard work if we give up now
That’s what the enemy wants
As star wars says, rebellions are built on hope
We still can make a choice
Yes death will come to us eventually
But it’s up to us on how we will face it
It’s not the end but a new beginning
Hold onto hope
And have courage
To face your demons
To face the world
To face another year
To know your not alone
But if we stand together
And put our differences a side
We will bring hope to all
Holiday Greed
Oh the holidays
Days where we are to be thankful
And be merry and bright
Yet we forgot the meaning
And we go on a shopping spree
Commercialized
Need the next new toy
Maybe we will skip thanksgiving this year and wait in line for black Friday
I hear they have socks for half off
Trample someone because they were in my way
Fight a lady for the next new star wars toy
Oh the joy
We hunger for more
Materialistic
Greed
Never have enough
Also forget that there’s something called online shopping
But it’s not the same
We don’t have someone breathing behind my back
Only in America
Should be our logo
America the land of the great
Has become one big shopping mall
And yet we love it
Two things we love
Food and shopping
Shopaholics
Yes I’m being very sarcastic
Hope it doesn’t hurt your feelings
But believing that buying the next new toy for a kid will make them happy
You will be very disappointed
They probably already have enough junk
Probably will play the box more than the toy
Maybe what they need is not more stuff but more of you
In the end it doesn’t matter how much stuff you have
But the time you are with the ones you love
I can’t remember all the toys I received
But what I do remember are the memories spent with my family and friends
The adventures I had
Instead of using that money on a new toy
Use it to take your kids out on an adventure they will always remember
Be generous
Be thankful
Be kind
Because the holiday greed brings the worst out of people
So let’s change that
Time is short
Make every memory count
Happy Thanksgiving
Merry Christmas
And a happy New Year
Take a Risk (Breakaway Inspired Poem)
Standing on the edge
So scared to fall
My heart is beating
I can’t stand tall
But out in the distance
The breeze is whispering afar
Saying…
It’s okay
To make a risk
To make a change
And breakaway
I’m just a bird
So ready to fly
My tiny wings won’t get me high
As I sink, I see others fly by
But out in the distance
A bird is chirping with a cry
Saying…
It’s okay
To be brave
So spread those wings
And soar away
I feel so hopeless
As life passes by
This heart is broken
I don’t understand why
But in the distance
A girl walks by
Saying…
It’s okay
Don’t stray away
You’re not alone
And make a new way
Saying…
So it’s okay
To be yourself
To push oneself
And make a risk today
Passion
If your job becomes a chore
You should head out the door
Because if you don’t have passion in what you do
Than you are wasting your time on what you were intended to do
Because time is precious
So don’t waste your time on something you hate
There is a time when you will have to work anywhere to make a living
But don’t let that get your hopes up
Everyone has to go from point A to point B
Just don’t get stuck at point A
Because you will miss out on what is in store at point B
So when you have passion in what you do
Everyone will see the real you
Don’t do it for the money
For the fame
For the gain
For the glory
But do it for you
Not for someone else
This is your life
Your Career
Your moment
Your love
And your Passion
Stay Curious
It’s okay to think
It’s okay to ask questions
Why what where and how
Might drive parents nuts
But still seek for answers
Find clues
Investigate
Read, explore, endure
Plant that seed so that you may grow
In knowledge that you seek
In truth to set you free
In wisdom to share
Learn from others
Not only the good but the bad
Be observant
Let your imagination go wild
Have adventures
Explore the world around you
Enjoy every moment
And as always
Stay curious
What Money Can’t Buy
You have all the money and the girls
Buy them diamonds and pearls
Don’t know what to wear, need more stuff to buy
Have too much pride
No one by your side
No matter how many mansions you buy
There will be no place for your treasure to hide
When you die
You gasp for air
But your face is covered blue
No time to recover from all the guilt
From all this destruction you have helped built
Wishing you spent more time
On the things that money can’t buy
Seeking for a simpler life
Taking time off to spend with your wife
Watch your kids grow
Before life passes you by
No place you’d rather be
Than with the ones who helped you see
What money can’t buy
Connect
Feeling distant
Feeling strayed
I’m falling away
I chat
I message
I text
I call
I watch
I phone
I obsess
I friends
Social Media – A place to connect
But why do I feel disconnected
Doesn’t feel real
Genuine
Hiding behind a screen
Posting things for self image
Maybe I’ll make more friends
Maybe I’ll get more likes
Maybe they will message me back
Still waiting for that text
How can I have so many friends on social media, text all the time, call distant friends
Yet feel so empty
Has technology taken away the most important attribute for connecting with friends?
And that is the physical you
An authentic conversation
We strive for the new
But some things were not meant to be replaced
Call me old fashioned but nothing beats talking with friends and family face to face at a personal level
Nothing will replace that genuine conversation
Nothing will connect more than spending time with the ones you love
You can’t genuinely get to know someone without meeting them face to face
You see their imperfections
Their flaws
Their quirks
Their heart
Their goals
Their dreams and desires
Their stories
You learn a lot from an ordinary conversation
Maybe social media isn’t after all social
Just a shortcut that skips the true meaning of connecting
So go outside and make some friends
You will never know what they are really like until you truly connect
Imperfect
I have scars
That bring up memories
I have stretch marks
That reminds me of what I have lost
I have wrinkles
That reveals my age
I have curves
That size won’t fit
I have freckles
That won’t go away
I have gray hair
It’s just not fair
I have deformities
I hope they don’t stare
I have disabilities
Please stop feeling bad for me
I am imperfect
I have flaws
I can’t change the way I look
I can’t change the way I am
Acceptance
Judged
Hurt
Betrayed
Loneliness
Scared
I am imperfect
But it’s okay
Because we are also imperfect
Our hearts define us
Not our flaws
There is beauty in everyone
Don’t be ashamed of who you are
Don’t let someone define you by your
Looks
By your shape
By your age
By your wealth
But by your heart
So I’m proud to say
That I’m perfectly imperfect
In the most perfect way
Compassion
Someone hurting
Someone crying
Someone begging
Someone who’s lost everything
Someone in need
Of love
Of help
Yet they walk by us everyday
Unnoticed, a ghost
They breathe in the same air
They could be a coworker
A sister, a brother
A father, a mother
A close friend
Or a complete stranger
Looking for answers
Seeking for help
Losing a sense of reality
Losing grip of hope
Once we sense it
Once they open up
We feel a call of duty
We begin to sympathize
We join in and grieve
Our hearts fill up with compassion
In that moment we realize
That we are not alone
That we also have struggles
We have also felt pain
We know we can’t always fix the problem
But what we can do is be there
When they need us the most
We can be the ears
That listen
And not judge
We can be the arms
That embrace
That tells them that it’s going to be okay
We can be the eyes
That sees beauty in them that others don’t
We can be the voice
Letting them know they’re not alone
That they still have a choice
We can be the heart
That pumps love and compassion
A heart that has been broken before, understands sorrow
We can be the brain
That guides them to the right path
And gives them knowledge and wisdom to overcome any obstacle
We can make a change
A difference
No matter what you are
Or what you believe in
I would like to let you know that I care, we care about you
You will survive this
You are beautiful
You are amazing
You are God’s gift
Don’t let anyone push you down
Because we care
And will always be there
If I died and had to be described in one word
I would hope it would be…
Compassion
