Patience is a Virtue

Why is it so hard to wait
Why is there so much on my plate
Why is it so hard to lay back and listen
That if we don’t listen, we may be missing
On opportunities
On helping out in communities
That our patience is dying
That we let the past keep us crying
That we just want things to happen right away
That maybe we should listen to what God has to say
That maybe God has a different plan
That he molds us from a kid to a man
That we must look at life in a different point of view
To understand that patience is a virtue

The Lion’s Roar

A roar heard from miles away
The heat from the safari gets hotter everyday
There up on the highest rock was a lion
His cub beside him trying
To roar
His father just smiled and told him, “You must understand what your looking for”
“For this land will someday be yours”
“They must know who is king no matter if you have bumps, bruises, or sores”
“It’s not fear but confidence that you will give them”
“I tell you, do not condemn”
“For we all have a purpose on this earth”
“It’s up to you to show everyone what your worth”
His cub looked at his father all frightened, “But father I’m scared”
He looked at his cub so calmly and responded, “So do all who live in times like these, that’s why you must be prepared”
“I won’t be here forever”
“That is why you must endeavor”
“So let me hear you roar”
So his cub stood up tall and tried to roar once more
There on the highest rock stood a lion, not a cub no more
For this is the lion’s roar

Seasons of Our Life

In time there are seasons
With time comes with reasons
Reasons of purpose
We are deep under fighting to reach the surface
To grasp a taste of fresh air
To know if people really care
To see what life is all about
But sometimes we’re all alone, no one near to hear us shout
That our seasons change
That they range
From the good to the bad
But don’t make the bad make you sad
Because when we hit our lows
That’s when God’s work really shows
Where he let’s us experience circumstances to prepare us for what he has planned
That we grow from a young child to a man
That when you let God in control, you are in good hands
That every second is precious slipping down from the sands
Of time
That we will have mountains to climb
That we need to trust in God during a rainy season
And thank God for his reason
And not take a sunny season for granted
That a seed needs rain and sunshine for it to be planted
Because there’s a time for everything
That anything
Is possible through Christ

Not Aways a Happy Ending

As kids we believe in happy endings
Cool toys and fancy weddings
A prince swooping you up on a date
That first love must be fate
That we will succeed at everything we do
That we will believe anything so that it can be true
But sometimes things don’t go the way we intended it to
That sometimes we need to look at life in a different view
That our life cycles from a simple seed to a complex plant
That sometimes in life it’s not about what we want
But it’s about what we need
That flower you have always dreamed of is actually an infectious weed
So stop worrying about having a perfect life
For example the flaws and imperfections is what makes a perfect wife
Because life is meant to have ups and downs
That it’s up to us to reach higher grounds
So make the most of what we are given
That we are still living
That just because it isn’t a happy ending
Doesn’t mean we have to keep pretending
That life is meant to be so much more
Because our relationships and friendships is what life was intended for

Remember Every Moment

Every smile
You give
After a while
You live

Every kiss
You touch
I will miss
You much

Every tear
You cry
Always near
Now goodbye

Every friend
You made
Til the end
We stayed

Every memory
You make
From elementary to anniversary
For every decision you take

Every moment
Every breath
Every enjoyment
Will be the last you remember before your death

Street Rat

A little boy laying in the slums
Caught stealing and now has two broken thumbs
His stomach growled with hunger
This boy couldn’t get any younger
No parent in sight
Always in a middle of a fight
How could this be right
What was the cause of these actions
Yet it happens

A little boy too young to understand
Yet forced to be a man
Rummages for food like a rat
Eats from the trash, sometimes lucky a chicken bone and fat
Hasn’t showered for years
The only dirt washed away were his tears
A stick has always been his toy
You question, he’s just a little boy
Who’s responsible for these actions
Yet it happens

A Writers Dream

A book may seem like a book of endless pages
But for a writer it’s a book of many stages
It took time to write
It took an idea to spark up a light
It took imagination from a brain to a page that had nothing
To interpret it into a story so it can become something
This is when a book becomes a work of art
When a book seems finished but it’s still at its start
Because a writer puts every ounce of blood to their story
A true writer doesn’t write for riches or for glory
They write to enrich our lives with knowledge
Doesn’t matter if a writer went to school or went to college
As long as they use their art as leverage
To pass on a lesson or a message
To entertain
To explain
By engaging them into a world full of imagination
By showing them your view and interpretation
By inspiring a kid of future possibilities
By showing future writers their capabilities
Because it’s worth the fight
When you write
So pick up a pen and join the team
For this is a writers dream

Overcoming My Struggles

Dear God help me with my struggles
Help overcome any troubles
That I have faced
Of all the sin I have placed
That it’s only by your grace
That I may live in a heavenly place
That you died for our sins and you rose again
That you rose towards heaven where you remain
That life may seem like it’s going to break
That God doesn’t care how many mistakes you make
Because he knows who you are and what you have done
For he sent his only son
In place of everyone
For God is the true king who wears the crown
So don’t let an obstacle slow you down
Because with God we can overcome anything
So I thank God for everything
So that I may have no more troubles
That I may overcome any struggles
For God is always here
And will always be near
In Jesus name
Amen

Money Isn’t Everything

Money, one of the worst enemies of all
It’s an illusion that makes us feel proud and tall
When in reality it becomes our greatest fall
Money is necessary to buy the necessities we need in our life
But when used in proper it may some day stab you in the back with a knife
So I beg you do not let it become your master
Or your life could end up in a disaster
Because money can not buy happiness
It will leave you with emptiness
It can only relieve the pain temporarily
That money is only here momentarily
But friends and family are forever
They are the last to say never
That our true riches are in heaven
That if we put others first we may learn a lesson
That when we give
It’s when we truly live
Because we came from nothing
But with God’s grace we were given everything

My Heart is Yours

Dear future wife
I just wanted to let you know that you’ve changed my life
That I will never be the same anymore
That you will be the one that I will always adore
That their will be no one else that I could love more
Than the one who’s always at my front door
Waiting to be in my presence
That she must be an angel from the heavens
That her beauty is beyond anyone I have met
That your eyes are so memorable that it is impossible for me to forget
That I could never forget someone who has made me whole again
That you will always have my love to gain
That my heart will always be yours
So here’s to our future that I’m so ready to explore
From your one and only future husband
